compatibility for ASUS 501A

I am looking to buy an ASUS 501A-HPD121H laptop from Best Buy. In the Certified Hardware listing, this computer is listed if Ubuntu is pre-installed. At Best Buy it is not pre-installed. Is it still reliably compatible, or can you suggest a better choice?
I have not seen a store selling Ubuntu pre-installed in Hawaii.

If it is listed in the Ubuntu certified then it should be ok.

It is approved only if pre-installed and it is not pre-installed.
How is pre-installed different from a non-professional install?

Also, someone wrote in that Ubuntu on that model made the display dim.

Any ideas?

Then I suggest getting the ASUS X201e-Dh01 Cel/1.1 11.6 2gb 320gb Ubuntu which costs $332.
