when computer is turned on, I press Ubuntu and the computer shuts off, only other choices are adavance options and memory test

Asked by Stanley Bearden

I have a new computer with Ubuntu 2.0 installed. Whet I turn the computer on, I get a screen that says Ubuntu,Advance options and memory test. When I click Ubuntu, the computer shuts off. If I click any of the other, the test just keeps running until I turn the computer off. It is the only way to get out of it. Thanks

Hi Stanley ,

I guess that the Ubuntu version you use is 12.10 (2.0 doesn't exist) . I guessed by the menu you described , "Ubuntu" "Advanced Options" , this is the menu of grub 2.00 boot loader that Ubuntu 12.10 uses.

Now tell us , how you performed the installation of Ubuntu ? You used wubi.exe (from within Windows) or you created a dual-boot (via Ubuntu DVD - the regular way) or there is no Windows at all in PC ?

Is easy for you to perform another installation of Ubuntu ? Seems that something went wrong during installation.

Thanks
