I have Ubuntu running on at least 3 dell machines so it is certainly possible to get it working.

We need some additional information

1. How have you installed Ubuntu: Inside Windows with Wubi, as a dual boot with windows or another OS or as the only OS?

2. Which version of Ubuntu are you installing ?

3. What are the model numbers of these dell computers?

4. Do you get any error messages?

Its a issue with compiz because of your graphics adaptor driver.

Please use vesa for fall back.

If GPU is available, please get driver from chip vendor.

Can you help with this problem?
