Will Ubuntu run on an HP Compaq nc4010 netbook?

I want to install Ubuntu on my HP Compaq nc4010 Netbook. I'm currently XP Pro with 512K ram, 1.7mhz processor, and 20 gigs of free harddrive space. I tried using the install cd and got the error message about no "pae" on processor. What does this mean?

Pae is a cpu feature to give 32bit OS access up to 64gb ram. Older cpus don't have it.

Personally I would go with Lubuntu 12.04 on this machine its light weight and runs well download is here
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/12.04/release/

Lubuntu 12.10 needs PAE by default
