Ubuntu 12.10 install problem

Asked by Ryan Tardi

I'm trying to install to my Dell desktop. I get the Ubuntu splash screen at first, but then it goes blank. No install options ever appear (live CD or anything). I then tried the CD on a Asus Eee PC and it worked. Could this be a hardware issue?

Probably a graphics issue.

Try some options from Live-CD.

When you reach the splash screen and BEFORE splash disappears , hit a key (anything , e.g space bar) and then select language (e.g English) and then hit F6 to choose an option.

Begin from nomodeset and see if you can install

Thanks

I think there may be an issue with my DVD ROM as well. I'll replace and see how it works.
