Install Ubuntu fails, error message usr/bin/compiz

Asked by henry golczynski

Installation of Ubuntu 12.04 & 12.10 both fail and I get a blank screen. Uninstalled and tried again with same results. Error message is usr/bin/compiz. The 12.10 seemed to be working until I installed the latest updates at the end of the install.

Does the system have a make and model?
What video chip do you use?
Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

Hi ,

please try to install again the 12.04 version of Ubuntu. We will need fore info to help you.

When crash comes , give here more info about

1) graphics card - driver : below command in terminal(CTRL+ALT+T) will help

lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 vga

2) Release version of Ubuntu and kernel and compiz .

lsb_release -rcd ; uname -r ; apt-cache policy compiz

3) How you installed Ubuntu ? Alongside Windows or from Within Windows (wubi) ? Regular installation and NOT WUBI is preferred.

Thanks
