reinstalling ubuntu along with keep previous data

on my computer Ubuntu is installed but due to change of mother board it does not working n showing error. so i try to reinstall Ubuntu along with previous one but due to less space it does not install so please tell me how to keep my previous files .
because it is very imporntant .

Just restore your user datafrom backup after a clean install. Far easier than anything.

When you boot from Live-USb/DVD , to install Ubuntu and when reach the Ubuntu Installer window , probably it will offer you a re-installation or upgrade (with the same version). Click this and proceed. All your data will remain.

Another way is to go through "something else" option , then click Ubuntu partition , click change and the most important of all is to NOT CLICK the format box. Leave it as it is. Unmakred.
