how do i install 12.04 on a ssd drive

Have hp 625 laptop and the drive is failing thinking of replacing with a ssd .will be a clean install maybe..be a straight install from a live cd ?.using 64 bit copy .understand can adjust the drives for speed and long life ? the current 12.04 is on a 75gb partation on 320 hard if there away to transfer it over to the ssd which will be probabbly a 128gb version .have remove all files so is just a bare operateing system or ,,,clean install or cloneover and use the full 128 gb opposed to the 75gb? any help appericated thanks

Same as using a platter based drive. The process is identical. I'd go for a clean install personally. You can use both drives. If you put swap, /var and /tmp on the platter based drive, it will wear the SSD less. You could even remap the ~/.cache folder from the SSD to the platter by using symbolic links.

My opinion , better a clean install. And install ALL the system to the SSD . Do not dissociate the folders.
