how can i install windows on my pc without removing ubuntu?

i had patirtioned disk and was running both windows and ubuntu. But now the windows does not start so i need to reinstall it.

Step 1. Backup everything on Ubuntu just t be safe (/home, /etc, /opt /usr/local)

Step 2. Boot Windows 7 CD and tell it where to put it. Over the old windows.

The good news is that windows now works and Ubuntu is still there; but it wont boot.

Windows has over written the Master boot Record MBR.

To restore the MBR see here
