having problems loading ubuntu for my new desktop

Asked by Nathaniel edwards

I just installed ubuntu to run alongside windows 7 and when I restart and choose ubuntu
my computer freezes on the login screen

I installed ubuntu and everything
I thought it was my wireless mouse and keyboard but they work fine on windows as apparent Im able to type now

I even used a non-wireless mouse and still doesn't work

what do I do?

Can you expand on 'freezes' please? Do you get a black screen when you boot Ubuntu? Did you use Wubi or did you resize your NTFS and install to the freed space?

Does the system have a make and model?

Thanks

it freezes in the login screen of ubuntu can move the mouse to click to click the login button
and its not the mouse , im dual running windows and ubuntu when I boot my PC I go to Ubuntu it gives me 4 options to choose from
generic ubuntu mode
recovery mode
and some other ones which aren't applicable

when I choose the generic it freeze like I stated before
when I pick recovery mode It is a whole other story
a long list of error pop up

to answer your question i get the purple screens with the 4 options
I dont recall seeing a black screen

IDK what Wubi or NTFS is even after I looked them up

I use an Acer all in one model AZ1620-UR31P

NTFS is the default file system in WIndows. Wubi is a method of installing Ubuntu to a file in the NTFS and booting that rather than installing to a Linux partition.

What video chip do you use?

I didnt use Wubi or NTFS I install ubuntu from a CD that I burned 11.04 a year ago

I believe the video chip is intel(R) HD Graphics family
