Ubuntu iso download how can i made an Ubuntu install cd using a Mac

Asked by Jennifer Roberts

I am trying to download a copy of Ubuntu on a Mac to create a CD for a PC. I have downloaded the software several times, and each time the image does not load, but says Mounting Failed in the download box. I am not a techie person but need a free operating system to fix my PC. My XP copy is asking for a new key and won't let me in to anything, no fixes are working. Anyway, I need help figuring out how to start.

I don't know much Mac but what do you mean by 'the image does not load'?
Assuming you have downloaded an .iso image of Ubuntu, you must now burn it to a DVD.

(You don't have to mount the image.)

Image Does Not Load is the error message in the screen when Ubuntu finishes its download. It won't complete from here. I can't download to a cd because it does not recognize the program yet- it has not finished its download.

You could try to go to this page:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/thank-you?distro=desktop&release=lts&bits=32
Then cancell the automatic download, then right click on 'download now' ans select 'save link as' (or something similar, depending on your browser.)

Okay, I never use Macs, but I think I figured it out. You just click on the hard drive, the name of the user, then downloads, and that is where they were all stored. I was able to start burning the disk from there.

The CD I made did not work. It would stall out during installation. I tried making two and they were both the same, so, not sure what went wrong.

Could you give details about what happened?
