Where did you download the Ubuntu Server image from? The Ubuntu official site only gives an .iso that you burn to disk using an image writing program - no RARs are offered.

I'm giving here a link to the Ubuntu Server 12.04 official page: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server (just choose a version - 32 or 64 bit, depending on your system - and click on "Start download").

After you have downloaded the .ISO, use a CD burning program (Nero, ImgBurn, Toast...) to write the image file to disk.

Anyhow, let me check once again.

Its not a RAR, your WinRARapplication can handle it so it gives it the icon and and confuses Windows users no end. You do NOT extract the file.

MD5 test the file, then open it with your CD burning software or use unetbootin to put the ISO onto a USB stick.
