need to know how to install Kubunu 12.04 on a laptop with the ISO on a jump drive?

I guess you mean a USB storage. You can download and install unetbootin in any OS and then download the ubuntu 12.04 ISO

Remember to MD5 test the ISO:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso
MD5: d791352694374f1c478779f7f4447a3f

You can then run unetbootin and point the app to the ISO you have, then select the USB storage device and kick it off. Make your intended system boot the USB and you will be ok. If you get any issues let us know and we can advise
