Installation problems with Ubuntu 12.04

Asked by Michael Flower

Call me an autistic nerd if you would like, but I would like to complain about a few things.

1. There should be a choice available to the user labeled "verbose" before the main installation takes place where when invoked the user would see a gas gage in the top-right in a window that is plain along with a rolling complete log on the main screen beneath everything leaving the user input windows as they are.

2. While using "Ubuntu Software Center" it would have been better if there were percentage numbers on the gas gage so the user can see progress. And, again, it would be nice if there were a "verbose" choice under the View menu (see above). I found a bug in that when a package is finished installing, the button still reports "Install" as though it is not installed. Then when I move on to "More Info" it correctly states that it is installed and the button reports "Remove". An "All" selection for the Add-ons section would also be nice.

We're not going to call you an "autistic nerd" for making suggestions about ubuntu. However what I would like to say is that this is posted in the wrong place. This is for people having technical problems with ubuntu, not for suggestions. I recommend that you remove this post and put it here: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/

No, that sight said that I need to post it on bugs something or other on Launch Pad. I am going to leave it here for there is a need for a simple suggestion box that does ask too many questions and just takes the suggestion.

I just looked at the bug thing and it requires me to seperate each bug (and print hard in triplicate). There is needs to be a suggestion box for the PUBLIC to report a bug by JUST STATING IT as I have done here.

The problem is, that these are not bugs, it is not a technical issue, it is merely some suggestions of improvements. These should go to http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/, you are correct that a bug should go to the bugs section on launchpad, however, this is not a bug. If the developers had meant to put these features in and they didn't work, that would be a bug. However this is something that the developers haven't thought of yet, meaning it should be suggested to them at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/
Go to the site then hit submit your idea button. Just hit continue when it says if this is a bug post it on launchpad, as it is not a bug. Then, as you requested you will get a simple message box. First you type the title of your suggestion, then you hit continue and describe it in more detail, then you are done. :)

I give up! This ubuntu thing does not seem to care about any feedback. I do not have to submit the exact right location for I AM A CUSTOMER and that catigorization is the job of the staff. I have sent this suggestion to many places around Ubuntu land and I get the same response that I need to submit it somewhere else. That is called "Passing the buck". Who in your has a sign on his desk that says "The Buck Stops Here"? Give a printout of this message to him. He is declaring that he will not pass the responsibility on to another. He instead will deal with the actual issues raised right there and then. Please, do not chide me any further and go forward with this. i do not need to hear about this again for I did what I am suppose to do.
