I can't quite figure out what you want to do...
Do you want to install Ubuntu within Windows using the Windows Installer (Wubi) or a normal dual boot by booting an Ubuntu CD/USB?

Okay... I can help you trouble shoot the Wubi problem, but that's not required if you're doing a normal dual boot (which is better albeit a little more complex getting started):

To install Ubuntu you need to partition your computer. You can either do this manually or let the Ubuntu installer do it for you automatically. Personally I'd recommend doing it manually, but that's up to you.

Also, it goes without saying that a full backup is important whenever you partition because there is always a small risk when partitioning. Also make sure you have a Windows repair CD handy if you do it automatically.

I'll move your question to the right section of the forum for help on installing if you have any questions. So provide some feedback of where you are in the process and what step you need help with.
