If its a firmware file, download it and put it in /lib/firmware

Paul seems to know the score though :)

no I dont know, I will try it.. when I load the 12.04 LTS, it asks for the firmware file.
If it is not installed then it does not open.
So i will get back 2 u tomorrow n see if It works. if there is another solution, like firmware that suits the OS and my Hp G4, then that would be better.
As this file was designed for the HP G5 and the 11.00 version of ubuntu.
Cheers

This may be late, but after dealing with this myself I found the easiest thing to do was install 11.04 and copy over the /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso.bin file to removable drive and use that for the install.

That worked for me anyway, hopefully it works for anyone else trying to use a HP G4.

Can you help with this problem?
