<grub> does not install 12.04, what command to use?

Asked by Paaristha

I am trying to install Ubuntu on windows vista since yesterday.

I get a <grub> command and need to input something i guess.

After searching I found to much of confusing information as I am not that computer literate and also on the ubuntu site it said that after 10seconds of no action, ubuntu should continue installing however, after trying again this morning it does not work. So can anyone help.

It seems too complicated and it should really be made easier especially from Ubuntu as I am unable to get any help via their site.

It's grub, the bootloader for Ubuntu.

Did you install with Wubi, or did you resize NTFS and install to the new free space?

thank you freedomrun but this is a very complicated way of solving a problem. I have already installed the Ubuntu operating system, so it is available. What I want to know is how to solve the bootloader problem when it say <grub>

My computer is from 2007, and really needs an overhaul which i am doing now. Making a partition and complicated things, i fear will cause me to make a bigger mess as i am not really good with computers.

I hope someone else out there who has had a similiar problem can help.

thanks

there is some graphical tools that could help you:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

if not, then you can always chroot to your installation from LiveCD and simply update grub.

Can you help with this problem?
