graphics problems with Geforce GT240 the installer freezes

The installer freezes when DVD reading ends . Mauve splash screen blanks out and jumbled screen is displayed.
Icore 7 CPU 8 gig RAM

Add the boot option:

nouveau.blacklist=1

Not your fault if I fail to fully explain the problem. Also bear in mind that english in not my primary language.
What I am trying to do is try 12.04 on a Windows 7 PC and I don't reach Live CD operation. I used the term " installer " but I am not trying to install at this stage.
I don't have a linux distro on this PC. I am just trying out 12.04.
I have success with Mepis and Fedora on this PC, all Ubuntu derived distros fail to reach Live CD opration.
Right now I am thinking of making tests with a new graphics card.

Some GPUs don't like the nouveau driver, you can then install the proprietary nvidia driver and be ok.

When using a Live CD how do I install proprietary nvidia drivers when faced
whith a randon pixel filled screen.
