Just one gussing:

b43 says to me that you have a broadcom wifi chip (also a guess) in your laptop.

As workarround: When your laptop has a switch (extern) for switching of the network adapter you may do this and run the installation then. When it runs with success you have a proper install without wifi and you may want to handle this later.

I have same problem. It is Broadcom card, but not laptop, thus do not have wireless on/off button. Disabled the integrated LAN controller in the BIOS (don't know if this disabled the Broadcom, the wired Lan, both or neither) but the install script errored out with:
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file 'b43/ucode5.fw' not found
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file 'b43-open/ucode5.fw' not found

Can you help with this problem?
