run 2 hard drives on same pc : 1 with windows and 1 with ubuntu

I would like to run 2 hard drives with 2 os 1 on each and be able to chose on boot which opperaing sys i want windows or ubuntu is this possible?

Yes it is possible and personally I think it is the best configuration. I would set ubuntu as primary hard drive and windows as the secondary hard drive. This way you will not over-write windows mbr with grub. When you boot you machine this way, you will get a grub menu with both ubuntu and windows as an option. If for some reason your ubuntu drive fails, you will still be able to boot windows.
