12.04 usb installation problem

I have tried for 3 days to install Ubuntu from a USB drive. I even changed harddrives. The USB drive installed Ubuntu fine on 2 other computers but I get to the part where I normally would get a slideshow showing Ubuntu features but instead get a spinning CD curser. Ubuntu Live works fine and I am actually submitting this report from the computer.

I think it is a drive issue because if I try to update on the live the updates go onto the USB drive and not the harddrive. Disk utility works and both the harddrive and USB are recognized

Hmm that is odd because it can obviously see your hard drive correctly (sda in the above). Maybe try installing from the alternate (text based) install CD/USB?

Thanks for you interest in my problem. I installed the alternate CD in the USB drive and tried to re-install. I got the spinning CD but it doesnt appear to be installing. It did mount a 1.1 GB file on the desktop
