Impossible install Ubuntu 12.04 on msi u270

Asked by Yeyo Peña

Hi.

Problem: Impossible install ubuntu 12.04 LTS from USB stick in msi u270

I have tried with 32bit version and 64bit version.

I am running ubuntu 11.04 (wich I can't update to 11.11 because problems with msi u270).

It's a netbook so my only chance is to install it with USB stick

What happens: I restart the netbook with the usb pluged, and the ubuntu logo appears but the process stucks there. I have succesfully installed 12.04 on other laptop and the process continues with the instalation menu, but in msi u270 it gets stucked.
I have waited more than 20 minutes for something to happend without any response. I have to manually restart the coputer.

I've been ubuntu user now for more than 3 years.

Any help would be welcome.

Use the left-shift key during the boot process to get to the grub screen. Try one at a time the following options: noapic, nolapic nomodeset. If one of these allows it to work, you will need to edit one of the files to make the option happen on every boot.

I tried using left-shift key but there was any improvement (I could get to a new stage with more options, however the final result was the same, the laptop frezzed).

Therefore I managed to get 12.04 running on the msi u270 by updating my 11.04 to 11.10, and then from 11.10 to 12.04. I took around 8 hours, but it's better than anything.

However now I'm stucked with another problem wich at least u270 seems to have with 12.04 and usb sticks, wich has an independet bug report.

Anyway, thanks for the help given.

PD: I don't know if I should say that the problem is solved? what do you think?

Can you help with this problem?
