You're talking Windows games as far as I'm aware? Some, but not all games will run under Wine. There are claims that these run more slowly than in a native Windows envirenment. Ubuntu 12.04 in my view is fantastic! Unless you are a Windows gamer. Why not run 12.04 from a live-DVD and play around with it for a while. You could always install dual boot. Use a native installation and not wubi of you go for that option.

Deffinetely the user experience compared to windows is a lot better, minecraft is written in java so runs on all platforms, to run the two others you will require an application called wine, that can be downloaded from the ubuntu sofware center, this allows you to run windows apps on ubuntu. Battlefield 3 does not run well on this as it is on origin, which doesn't work well with wine, however steam games like garrys mod run well, (garry's mod is also rated gold on http://appdb.winehq.org which is the reviewer for how well windows apps run on wine, (of course gold means good)). Speed wise for ubuntu generaly, it runs very smooth, if you do have any problems, ask here, and someone will be able to help you setting up video card drivers, or other ways of making it run faster.

Can you help with this problem?
