how to format so i could i try to install Ubuntu again

you can run:

gksudo gparted

and remove the Ubuntu partitions. This will DESTROY the data so be sure you BACKUP what you need first. I assume you did not use wubi to install Ubuntu.

Please run Ubuntu from the live-DVD and use the 'Try Ubuntu' option before trying to install.

Press CTRL+ALT+T and run the command.

If your computer will not run any OS, you will need to boot from the DVD instead. The OS is all there for operation.
