Ubuntu

Cannot install 12.04 LTS x64

Asked by Troy Green on 2012-04-27

I have a Gateway LX6810-01 - I can install other versions of Ubuntu but not a fresh install of 12.04LTS x64 I get an error that states that a panic has occurred - Rebooting in 30 seconds.... but it never does, I have to manually power the machine down and remove the CD from the drive.

I thought it may be the CD's that I was using so I tried another, that didn't work - so I re-downloaded it and re-burned it again that also did not work, I'm out of options is there anything you guys can do to help?

I have a photo of the screen I get but the forum here won't let me attach the photo.

Thanks in advance!

Troy.

use imgur or imageshack to make the image into a URL....

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?

Hello yes, I have checked the MD5 -they pass and I have tried multiple downloads from multiple sites. I burned a CD at 2x (As low as it would go) and still get the following screen when I try to install it.....

Sounds like a bug, try the boot option:

maxcpus=1

Just til you get installed
