wubi and 12.04

Asked by Paul Turner

I am wanting to try Ubuntu without removing Windows XP at this time, (have a couple of old programmes that I still use a couple of times a year that connect by a USB/serial adaptor and were a pain to set up many years ago) but XP is now so slow (lap top is Dell Vostro Core 2 with 2gb ram and 250gb HD thus not too shabby) that everyday e-mails, web and office apps are a joke (its been defragged etc). I have run xubuntu 11.10 live from the CD and its works perfectly and very fast connecting to the wireless etc thus my first thoughts were to install ubuntu 12.04 along side XP when it is released (after trying it live to check compatibility of course). I have now read about wubi and installing Ubuntu inside XP which looks like a convenient half way house but it apperas that wubi will not be on the CD. Have read that I will be able to download wubi and the 12.04 iso seperately and still do an install but is there something I am missing.

I am a total Linux novice so be gentle with me.

That's all you'll need.Wubi and the ISO.Put the MD5 tested ISO in the same folder as wubi and run Wubi, it will use the image and install.

Alternatively, you could boot the install CD (Made with the MD5 tested ISO) and resize your NTFS and install a real dual boot.

Can you help with this problem?
