Which version of Ubuntu to use for intel Celeron 1.86GHz laptop?

I have an old 32-bit laptop with an intel Celeron 540 1.86GHz chip in it and I want to use Ubuntu. Is there a version of Ubuntu that will work??

How much RAM does the system have and what video chip?

Thanks for your reply.

I have 0.99 GB RAM
I don't think there is a video chip as such, but I found this in device
manager under sound and video: Conexant HD-Audio SmartAMC HD2
I also found this under display adapters: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express
Chipset Family
And this under monitors: Generic PnP Monitor

You could actually run any of them, but Lubuntu might be a good fit for the CPU.

I have a 900SD EeePC (also 1GHz Celeron) that I am currently running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on, but will be upgrading to 12.04 when it is released in a few days. 11.10 was a bit too slow on this machine but I'm hoping they have made some performance improvements for the next LTS release.

Your video is the Intel 965 which should be OK as far as I know.

You can use a full Ubuntu OS. If you want a snappier OS then use Xubuntu or Lubuntu.
