Partitioning

Asked by Kevin LOMBA

Hi,

I want to install ubuntu 11.10, alongside with windows at the moment, because i'm not sure if i want to go all the way yet.
I got stopped at the partitioning step, where even without making any changes , i couldn't go further because I didn't define a root system ( ???) I don t really understand, and know what it means . Also, i would need recommendation and how to partition efficently a 320 Go HDD, for simple needs.

Thanks in advance

Kev

Read http://opensource-sidh.blogspot.com/2011/10/install-ubuntu-1110-and-windows-dual.html

If you run Windows7 then shrink Windows partition with Windows tool,not with gparted (program in ubuntu).If you just want to try ubuntu then just root and swap partitions are enough.if you want to you can make separate home partition.So it will look like this:

1. root=10GB mountpoint /root
2.swap=1-2GB
3.home= rest of free space mountpoint /home

Can you help with this problem?
