From Windows Vista to Ubuntu

Asked by Mara

I have a Dell inspiron 1545. I would like to switch from Windows Vista to Ubuntu, but I've been having a lot of trouble doing so. My PC seems to be unable to boot from a CD. Can anyone help me? Maybe giving me step by step instructions? Thank you.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?
What GPU do you use?

No to the first question. As for the second question, how do I do that? For the third: Mobile Intel(R) 4 series Express Chipset Family...I hope that's right. As you can see I'm no expert.

Many Dell PCs dont look at the CD on boot up by default go into the bios by pressing F2 at start-up then make sure the CD is set as the first boot device.

Can you help with this problem?
