1. Backup your personal documents, music, pictures et cetera, on an external storage medium. Like a CD, a DVD, an external hard drive or a USB memory stick.

2. Boot your computer from the Ubuntu Desktop CD and start GParted:
Click on the grey Ubuntu logo in the top of the side panel (Dash home). Query: Gparted.
Click on Gparted Partition Editor.

Then use this fine disk partitioner, to completely destroy the Ubuntu partitions. All actions you do in Gparted have to be confirmed by a click on the Apply button in the panel (the green tick V), before they are being executed

don't format the Ubuntu partitions, just destroy them. Including the swap partion! The result will be "unallocated free space".

Note: the swap partition needs to be unmounted before you begin. In Gparted, do as follows: click with the mouse on the swap partition, then right click with the mouse, and choose Swapoff. Then you can proceed. Destroy the swap as well!
and Reboot your computer. Don't remove the Ubuntu CD.

I guess that when you switch on your laptop/desktop, you are supposed to press a particular key before you can select the boot device. read the fine line at the end , which tells which key to press, of the initial boot screen i.e when you see the logo of your machine (dell/hp etc). then accordingly, select the boot device and press enter and you should see the machine booting with the CD.

I just went into set-up of my computer and manually change the BOOT ORDER .....still no change,it simply goes back to the already installed OS.Is there anyway to install from the contents of the disk itself or perhaps from the terminal?

Made new CD ...did MD5 test....still no change. Is there no way to install from the command line or perhaps within the flies/folders of the CD itself?

Thanks
