When Installing Ubuntu 11.10 from usb drive, it sticks.

Asked by Korey Tueller

I have windows 7 ultimate on my netbook. No cd drive. So I want to install Ubuntu 11.10. I did so and I get message that says syslinux 4.0 etc... It looks like command line. I've used every usb install method the Ubuntu documents section suggested and it is still not working. Any seggestions?

Honestly, I didn't md5 test it because I downloaded straight from the ubuntu site, But my gpu is directx i do believe. Now, I can side install inside windows, but only having this issue when trying to completely install ubuntu and get rid of windows.

You should do an md5sum check. Windoze has built in checking that tests the integrity of whatever you download, linux doesn't. You can google "ubuntu md5sum check" to get instructions on how to do this.

You can also get an md5sum checker from nullriver that will run under windows.
It's called winmd5sum.exe

DirectX is not a video chip, Intel, AMD and Nvidia are video chips. You can use DirectX with ANY video chip (under Windows).

Does the system have a make and model?

Can you help with this problem?
