how mucj room is needed on a ubuntu stick or cd

Let's say I download ububtu. How much room will be.needed if I put it on a stick. How much on a cd.

The same amount on both - about 700Mb.

If you make a LiveUSB then you can have a persistence file that can fill the rest of the USB stick. This will let you save data and use the LiveUSB more like a real installation.

If you want to do a full install on a USB stick you will need at least a 4GB stick, and it will boot slowly and won't have much room left. A USB install can be good way to get a machine with no hard drive working however.

You can use unetbootin to put the ISO on a USB stick (or even SD card / CF card etc). Be sure you MD5 test the ISO so that you know the ISO is complete and consistent.
