Ubuntu 11.10 screen keeps freezing

Asked by wordsmyth2

Newly re-installed Ubuntu 11.10 screen keeps freezing, often after only a few minutes of use. And hibernation STILL isn't working. If there are no solutions for these problems, I'm going back to 11.04 - or switching to Mint 12 which works FINE.

Making threats doesn't make anyone want to help you any more or any less.

Are there any bugs reported?
What make and model is the system?
Have you tested your RAM health using memtest in Grub?

Um, don't you think "threat" is a rather ugly word to use on these pages? Anyway, having had nothing but trouble with Ubuntu 11.10, I've now migrated to Mint - which is working perfectly AND even hibernates! So excuse my defection from Ubuntu, which under the circumstances was a wise decision. Nothing wrong with my laptop or my stem - all checked out. So...cheerio for now - and thanks for your help in the past AP....

Read "system", not stem...

Howcome Mint has solved the many problems that seem to plague Ubuntu 11.10???

Its a different distro with different settings and such. It is why mint is not supported in any of the ubuntu channels
