Ubuntu 11.10 install: Choose a picture netbook problem

Asked by SouthJersey609

I am installing Ubuntu 11.10 on a Dell Mini 910, the installation is going flawlessly until I try to select my "Choose a picture" screen, you can either select to take a picture of yourself or choose one of the preloaded pictures, but I can't get to the continue button to keep on installing due to the small screen size of the Dell Mini, any work arounds for this?

I just hit the tab button and enter and it appears that the installation is proceeding as normal! So, even though you may not be able to see or select the 'continue' button, you can still press 'tab' and enter to get you back into full installation after the 'Choose a picture' screen.

This action fixed the problem that I was having installing Ubuntu 11.10 on a Dell Mini 910 netbook and it was reported by someone else in the 'bugs' section.

Note: you may have to hit tab 2 or 3 times first before you hit the enter key, upon my first try on this, I actually went back to the previous screen with the computer name and password screen, so just be persistent and I believe this will be a work around to get the installation process finished on a netbook. Happy Ubuntu! First time I am installing it and I am a true believer in this OS!

Press and hold Alt, then use the mouse to drag the installer screen up until you can reach the "Continue" button.

Not that it directly helps, but this is fixed in 12.04, and the automatic test suite now covers it so this shouldn't come back.
