Yes. Just proceed as you would for the same as on your original computer.

You sure can.

I used UNetbootin to create a bootable flash drive. You can download it here: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

I also chose to do a wipe on my hard drive with KillDisk, which you can download here: http://www.killdisk.com/

You can download either the latest version of Ubuntu or the most recent Long Term Support version of Ubuntu here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

Or you can download it as a torrent here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/alternative-download

Here's the Documentation page for Lucid Lynx (the most recent LTS version): https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/index.html

I've installed Lucid on two different computers and with both, I ran into having to do some extra work to get the wifi working. It has to do with proprietary software issues, but the information on how to do it is generally available. With the second computer I did, I wound up having the ability to just plug in the ethernet cable to the computer and download the wifi driver that way. It was much easier than figuring out how to download what I needed and manually install it.

And one last tip 'cause I had to spend lots of time looking it up both times: the easiest way to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox is to add it to your repositories. Go to System --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager --> Settings --> Repositories --> Other Software --> Add and add "ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu". Next, you click Reload in the Synaptic Package Manager, do a Quick Search for firefox, and once you locate the new package, mark the box on the right for installation and click Apply.

Hope this gets you going. Good luck.
