if I install new 12.xx alpha/beta, will I need a fresh install of 12 LTS -- or can I upgrade without losing my config.?? Thx

Asked by Joe Grabau

Dear UBUNTU,

I will be loading a Ubuntu OS to a new system soon.

My interest is in the LTS soon to be released.

If I load the 11.10 or the 12.xx beta/alpha, will I be able to upgrade to the 12 LTS?

Or must I perform a clean installation?

FYI this will be the Inspiron duo - the tablet, netbook convertible thing.

I'd like to know for my other systems too, as that is an expendable device at the moment.

Thank you,

J.G.

Hi Joe Grabau,

You can keep your settings as long as you do an "upgrade"

You should install 11.10 and when avaliable upgrade to 12.04LTS. Do not use any beta in production.

However also you can install now 10.04LTS and the upgrade to 12.04LTS when it will be released
