Replacing Current Os With Ubuntu

Asked by Bradley Corrigan-Toole

Currently I am duall booting ubuntu 11.10 with Windows Vista, but because I received the BSOD on Windows Vista I want to completely replace Windows with Ubuntu, but first I have some questions:
Will Ubuntu automatically install drivers as it did when I installed it using dual boot?
Will installing Ubuntu completely wipe my HDD when it replaces Windows?

Thanks :-)
Please answer ASAP

Yes, the OS is the same if you dual boot or only boot ubuntu. There is zero difference. You can tell Ubuntu to use the entire drive space and install as the sole OS or you can resize NTFS to dual boot. Both are options. Obviously using the entire drive space for Ubuntu will destroy ALL data so be sure your data back up is sufficiently recent.

You can try Ubuntu from a LiveCD without changing anything on your HD, and see if all works properly. If yes, you can easy install:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall#To_Install_Ubuntu

Yes, Ubuntu will remove all the system on your HD if at the setup step, you select to use all the HD.

Can you help with this problem?
