Unable to Load a new copy of ubuntu 10.04 on a new hard drive

Set is up asus motherboard , 2 gb memory ,set up with new 320 sata hard drive ,new optical drive. on desk top computer

the installation starts ok ,gets to copying the files stops with the error message check cd may be faulty or clean your check optical drive or hard drive,those items are all correct as all new ,the cd as been copied from the ubuntu site ,it burnt on different pc to see if the problem was at the coping to disc stage ,the motherboard as run ubuntu before all only changes are new drives .which work fine on other pcs .as a last resort tryed to install via USB same problem occurred

Why use Lucid? Have you tried Oneiric?

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?
Did you burn the CD as slowly as possible?

yes test the cd and did slow burns on two different pcs to ma
ke sure there no fault with the optical uused to burn the disc
