Do you dual boot or are you having issues with Windows and hope installing Ubuntu will help?
If you have Ubuntu installed, did you use Wubi?

running ubuntu won't get your windoze working. ubuntu is an operating system like windoze and you can only run one of them at a time, not both at the same time.
anyways, you need to get into safe mode and run chkdsk to fix the problem. if you can't get into safe mode, wndoze is toast and you need to re-install.
seeing you've heard of ubuntu, why don't you switch over?
once you experience problems with windoze the problems will never go away. i'm speaking from experience here. so i'm windoze free now.

yes, ubuntu will "load up" even when windoze doesn't.
go to ubuntu.com and click on the download button. download version 10.04 LTS. this is the version that most resembles windoze.
instructions are given on how to install ubuntu, so follow them closely.
if you need any more instructions, feel free to post another question.

Can you help with this problem?
