Can Ubuntu be installed to Olevia Ole Box?

Asked by KKevin901

I ordered an Olevia OleBox which is running Android 2.3 as for living room multimedia centre.

I wonder if it can be configure to dual boot with Ubuntu. If so, anyone can coach me the procedure.

Thanks a lot.

It uses an ARM CPU so Ubuntu ARM will install. If you can boot to SD card on the device then it should be possible.

Thank for Actionparsnip quick response.

I didn't know Ubuntu has ARM version for ARM cpu; I thought there were just only intel x86 and AMD version. If so, where can I download the Ubuntu ARM version iso file?

Thanks

i doubt you'd be able to replace android on your device. people who sucessfully installed ubuntu on android devices are only loading ubuntu as a virtual machine. android is still on the device. since ubuntu is run in virtual mode, it runs slower but you get way more functionality than android.

you don't need a special version of ubuntu to install on ARM processors.

Be careful to backup Android and to be able to restore it if Ubuntu installation fails.
It's not as mature as x86, and hardware if very different than a PC.
