Can I install ubuntu over my Windows without deleting my files, itues and other programs?

Asked by June Sherer

I am considering installing ubuntu because of all the problems I am having with Windows XP and I have an older slower computer. Will installing Ubuntu still enable me to get to my itunes, pictures, dvd fab, word documents, etc. or are they all lost once I am using a new operating system. Will I have a problem with synchronising my ipod to my itunes for updating my music on my ipod? Is Norton 360 still needed?

You can install Ubuntu beside Windows. Follow this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall#To_Install_Ubuntu

and at the partition step, choose to install ubuntu alongside Windows.

You can also install Ubuntu into Windows with WUBI. By this way you are 100% secure because it will not change nothing on your hd:

For synchronize your ipod I suggest you to use Windows.

No, you don't need Norton on Ubuntuy because Linux is virus free.

Can you help with this problem?
