Drivers are provided by the kernel. The drivers are not "convertible", but rather separate drivers must be written for the components in that device. The drivers are all incorporated into the ubuntu install, where possible. some proprietary drivers for the video card can provide better performance than the default one supplied within the ubuntu install.

Usually each laptop is just a rebuild of different components from separate manufactuers (wifi from realtek/broadcom, video chipsets from AMD/Nvidia, motherboards from whomever). So despite your device not being specifically supported, each component probably is, and thus the whole laptop may "just work". Sometimes individual components may need special configuration parameters to workaround model specific problems (upside-down cameras are common, as are incorrectly wired sound cards (line in connected to mic, for example) ). If the laptop is common, this is usually done for you. If not, you may have to do it yourself.

I found one thread discussing your laptop model, but It appears you need to make a login to view it :(. Feel free to check it out:

The best thing that is recommended in your situation is to simply use a "live session", to test drive ubuntu before installing it. This will give you a good indication of what will work and what may be problematic.
