Apparently the device is rated as "good"

You should not require any drivers for the laptop (except maybe to install the proprietary video drivers if you are concerned about 3D performance). The linux kernel (which is at the core of ubuntu), provides the needed drivers automatically.

One user reports that on some versions of ubuntu, the internal microphone may not work out-of-the-box. A solution is however suggested.

yes....mycae is absolutely right. Ubuntu will run just fine on vaio. only wifi driver needs to be downloaded and that too can be done via additional drivers option. it will download the appropriate driver by itself and installs it. the same applies for the graphic card if required.

If there is a problem with the wifi, you may need to install the drivers from the software repository -- under ubuntu you generally don't (almost never) install software from the internet. This greatly reduces the problems with virii and badly interacting software.

This is the same model that proprietary systems, such as apple's "app store" and Ms' new store will be moving to.

To install the drivers, *if* neccesary (usually not) then you will be given the chance to install them using the package installer that is shipped with ubuntu. This will download them from either the CD, or the internet (use an ethernet cable), and then you should be good to go.

go to system settings and select additional drivers option. it will search
for proprietary drivers available for your PC and download then
automatically if you select the activate option.

Can you help with this problem?
