LTS are supported for longer than the regular versions. By Linux I'm guessing you mean 'Ubuntu', no other distro has the LTS thing like Ubuntu does.

Lts versions are more stable as well, as they have been out longer.

LTS is supported 3 years and normal version 18 month in theory.
Practically, you will have difficulties to get help on previous version as soon a new "normal" version is delivered, except for the LTS one.
