Dual Boot 64-bit OS. Which version do I use?

Asked by Brent Guthrie

I have Windows 7 Pro X64 and want to run Ubuntu along side. I would like a 64-bit version and am a bit unfamiliar with the names and versions of Ubuntu. The only thing that says 64 for downloads says AMD so is that for only AMD chips cause I have an Intel Q9300 CPU? Thanks in advance.

Go here:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/

now, click on "PC (Intel x86) desktop CD " if you want to install the 32-bit version, that will run without problem on your PC (I suggest to use this untill new version because in the new version will be more support for 64bit)

or click on "64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD " if you want the 64-bit version. Yes, it says AMD64 but it's a simply 64 bit version that can be used on your PC.
