The Ubuntu download will fit on a standard CD or 1 GB USB stick and thats the only cost as Ubuntu is a free download. Some people have problems with Internet access when they install as not all wireless and wired LAN are supported by default.

I would suggest you try the live CD first and check everything works OK first. Most people have no problems but its better to try it first and be sure.

You do want the desktop download It can be down-loaded from here

http://www.ubuntu.com/download

but first check that your system meets the requirements as listed here

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements

I would be very surprised if your machine does not meet this specification but if not there is a version for very low spec machines Lubuntu

Yea the last two editions (11.04&11.10) do work on both Desktop and laptop.10.04LTS works too but i suggest you to use the latest to get maximum out of your hardware and have all new user experience with Unity.

Can you help with this problem?
