Ubuntu On Laptop

I have a Two Questions about Ubuntu Users. Please help me.
1- I install Ubuntu 11.04 on my Dell Laptop Vostro 1015 along with Windows XP.
Its installed completely and updated through net.
Now the problem started from here, if i use Ubuntu on Battery or disconnect the power supply then it will Hang and stopped all work until i restart the system press the button.

2- Is all the Ubuntu Version are automatically updated in new version (If I have Ubuntu 11.04 and later will it updated in 11.10 Version).

Nobody will contact you directly. All correspondences will be on the forum. The WHOLE idea of a forum is to SHARE solutions, not to recruit someone to contact directly.

Do you have the latest BIOS? there may be fixes in the new BIOS regarding ACPI...

friend i don't have laptop so i don't have answer to your first question but about second question i can say that it will not be upgraded to 11.10 if don't do it yourself. you will need to do it yourself by:
1. Downloading latest version from net or
2. By update manager by clicking on (something like) 'Ubuntu 11.10 is available'
