ISO MD5 is OK.
It's not a usual error and have no idea currently.
Could you run: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck . Perhaps there was an issue during burning, but I don't think so.
What is your hardware ?
Did 11.04 worked on your PC ?

Please provide the complete error message.

it might be
BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference
or
BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request
or
...

Please provide as much information as possible, include the complete line that shows the error, preferably even a few lines before the error line etc., including all hex codes.

yesterday i booted the live CD with acpi=off and was surprised because i was able to install it on my PC.without setting acpi option to off ,i was never able to proceed further.anyway i installed Ubuntu 11.10 but after reboot i had the same issue
Unable to handle kernel
i installed 3.0 kernel on my running Ubuntu 11.01 and had the same issue

i am using 3.0 kernel in Linux mint Debian without any problem.

Can you boot your system by adding acpi=off on the grub screen as described in http://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#line-359

(if that works you have to add acpi=off to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub to make that a permanent setting, see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#line-136 )

I just wanted to confirm that I had this same issue with my current system when it upgraded to the 3.0 Kernel (from 2.6) as well as a LinuxMint12 live CD. It boots to:

[BUG]: unable to handle kernel

nothing follows that. After disabling acpi as noted above (acpi=off) then it booted fine. The common hardware appears to be that I have a Pentium 4 as well. I also have an Nvidia card but mine is a 7400 GT.

Can you help with this problem?
