11.10 installation problem on AMD Fusion APU system

Asked by Sadeem

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my HP DV6 system running AMD A8-3500M Fusion processor. It only gets to the start of Ubuntu installer and then the screen goes blank and nothing happens. But when I run it from a USB, it does the same but it gives the first login sound, though there is no video whatsoever. The screen still remains blank. Any solution?

adeon graphics can not use KMS. You have to disable it. Add nomodeset to the boot options.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

Please Follow this forum. I had the same problem you, but following this I solved the problem.

A tip: I could install using a graphical installer, I used nomodeset on the liveCD boot options and I clicked on the Install option.

The question is: Why the ubuntu (or kubuntu, xubuntu ...) team don't maked a script to fix this problem. I think this is a block for other people when installing a ubuntu (They don't have problem like this in the MS Windows instalation.
I have hope Linux will be the most usefull and friendly SO for all.

I hope to have helped
