Ubuntu installation on HP DV9006us laptop

I want to install Ubuntu 11 on my HP DV9006us. I have 2 concerns:
1. Will Ubuntu affect battery charging? (Hp sent me a software upgrade that fixed a charging problem a few years ago)
2. The cooling fan cycles on and off. Will Ubuntu affect that?

I did run Ubuntu from a CD briefly, it seemed fast and worked well.

Ubuntu will work as it did in the LiveCD.
